This is an exciting role for an Accountant with 2-3 years of experience, who is looking to accelerate their career in a high growth, culture focussed, technology start up. It is a key role within Practice Ignition’s core operations team as it will enable the business to make critical decisions based on accurate financial data and maintain financial integrity across all areas of finance. 


This role will report into senior members of the Finance team (who are all qualified by CA/CPA/CIMA), and will be based in our brand new offices in Surry Hills.


Responsibilities:

This is a generalist role, supporting the global business out of our head office in Sydney.  The role focuses on a range of finance areas including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, management & financial reporting, compliance across 6 countries and ad hoc projects.  


The duties and responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:


  • Monthly bookkeeping duties including bank + credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare all month end journal entries to record revenue and expense accuracy, in accordance with accounting standards
  • Own the evolution of the business month end timetable 
  • Conduct variance analyses across our 6 global entities to explain movements in accounts & populate reporting to senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting required by our investors and venture capital partners
  • Support the year end audit process and preparation of all financial reports
  • Assist in the preparation of global sales commissions & other variable compensation
  • Be a driver of process improvement within the finance team; look for opportunities to automate processes for scale
  • Manage & develop the accounts payable process & support all banking activities required
  • Payroll and benefits support to our global Payroll, Rem & Benefits Manager
  • Support senior finance team members in managing external outsourced accountants in our 6 markets
  • Collate the financial data for our R&D claims and other available incentives
  • Support in payments business tasks such as disputes processes, ‘radar’ reviews, Stripe accounting process improvements etc.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the finance and operations team across a range of projects to drive efficiency and manage costs across the business as it grows

 

Skills Required

  • Proficiency using the tools of the trade: Xero, Excel - intermediate, Google Suite - Sheets, Google Docs, Cloud based - Financial Reporting Systems.
  • Completed Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting or Finance and have started or plan to start your CA or CPA (you will be working with several qualified CFA, CIMA, and CA colleagues, including our CEO!). 
  • Proven experience in an accounting environment
  • A working knowledge of relevant accounting standards 
  • Smart time management and organisational skills
  • Hungry to grow their skillset and dig deep to solve problems, in a fast paced environment, where no two days are the same
  • Ability to show initiative, be flexible, and solve problems on the run
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and understand the Practice Ignition product and value proposition, as this drives everything we do
